The culture of Edo (the old name of Tokyo) was a playful and stylish one, born out of a marriage of the elegant and the common, the coarse and the refined. People enjoyed the four seasons, treasured their friends and neighbors, and lived lives brimming with vitality. This series was created by master incense artisans in Tokyo to express the fragrant atmosphere of old Edo. A single thin column of smoke beckons you to the stylish, modernist world that Edo represents. We invite you to bask in the fragrant world of Edo.
These fragrances have been specially blended to correlate with the folk tales that were told during the Edo Period. Each incense is colored with traditional colors. One by one, these products are carefully hand crafted by the skilled craftsman of Tokyo. Each box includes 60 sticks of incense, which each burn for about 12 minutes.
The incense is nestled in a paulownia box while the packaging is adorned with Japanese patterns in traditional colors. We paid special attention to textures and made sure the packaging has a luxurious surface finish. The Ukiyo-e paintings printed inside the package express the aesthetic during the Edo period.
Each incense includes an incense holder that resembles the stone pave ments of Edo. Tin was a favored metal by the upper class during the Edo period. The tin incense stand included in the package can be washed with water and will last for a long time.
The product comes with an English explanation so it would be a great souvenir gift for recipients in any country.

Pine Tree: The brisk and refreshing aroma evokes reveries of old Edo, where pines lined the streets frequented by travelers, keeping watch and protecting them.
Water Drop: The bustle of the bath house, where neighbors laugh and splash together. A warm and friendly fragrance for after bath time.

All of our textile items are hand made in the US based upon authentic Japanese traditions and best practices. (Our Tatami Mats are imported but made from Japanese materials.) We take great pride in the production of our products and never cut a corner solely to meet a deadline. Please be patient with us, especially during especially busier production periods.
Please review your order carefully before checkout to ensure all details, including your shipping address and selected items, are correct. We’re happy to assist with changes or cancellations, but we cannot guarantee they can be made before shipment once the order has been submitted. Customers are responsible for any costs resulting from order changes or inaccuracies, including reshipment fees, carrier correction charges, or return shipping costs.

- Leave our Massachusetts warehouse within 1-2 business days with most orders shipping within 24-hours. Orders received after end of day Friday through the weekend ship out the next business day.
- Orders containing made-to-order textile items will ship together once all items are finished. A shipping confirmation and tracking information will be sent once the entire order has been shipped.
- Orders may include more than one box and could arrive in separate deliveries. Tatami mats each ship in their own box.
