Ajisai Fabric Collection

This bold floral fabric features pink hydrangeas (ajisai; 紫陽 花) on a gray background. Hydrangeas are a genus of flowering shrubs that are native to Asia and the Americas. They come in a variety of colors such as pink, white, and blue, which depends on the pH level of the soil they grow in. 

In Japan, these flowers represent love, gratitude, and sincerity. Japanese Zen Buddhists are known to brew special type of hydrangea tea, known as amacha tea (甘茶) to celebrate Gautama Buddha's birthday.
