This handcrafted Japanese tea canister embodies the perfect balance of artistry and function. Made in collaboration between skilled artisans and contemporary designers, each piece is a true work of Japanese craftsmanship.
Its distinctive texture is achieved through the meticulous layering of three coats of lacquer—an age-old technique that no machine could replicate. The result is a canister that not only protects your tea but also serves as a display of timeless design.
The wide, roomy opening makes it easy to scoop, view, and manage loose leaf tea, matcha powder, or herbal blends, while ensuring optimal freshness. Unlike ordinary storage containers, this lacquered tea canister is designed specifically for tea lovers who want to preserve the aroma and flavor of their leaves. The airtight seal helps protect contents from light, air, and moisture—key to maintaining the rich fragrance and taste of Japanese green tea, sencha, hojicha, or any specialty tea.
This tea storage canister is more than just a kitchen accessory—it’s a lasting addition to your tea ceremony or daily tea ritual. Whether displayed on a counter, used in a traditional tea room, or given as a thoughtful gift, its minimalist design and fine craftsmanship make it a piece you’ll treasure for years to come.

It is quite lightweight, it almost feels flimsy. Note that it is not airtight at all, so I am not sure if I would store large volumes of matcha in this container. I am decanting some of my 100g bag in here and keeping the rest sealed in its airtight bag. The inside cap is a very thin black plastic, and the lacquer is rough to the touch. Maybe this is what it is supposed to be like and I had different expectations. I am still using it as it is attractive on my shelf and the size I needed, but I wish it was sturdier and more airtight.
