First Shikifuton
I have had back pain for as long as I can remember. So naturally was nervous about purchasing s new matress. I had done a lot of research and felt like the Japanese stle Shikifuton might be a perfect option. I finally went for it and ordered my Shikifuton just in time to love into my new apartment. It's been about a month so far and my back has felt great since after my first night on my Shikifuton, and I have consistently had some of the best sleep of my entire life. So I fully recommend Shikifuton to anyone who has back pain wants something inexpensive and comfortable, is limited on space or is in general just looking for a new mattress.
Nice material
Very nicely sized and easy to put on the mattress. Cotton feels very soft to the touch. I bought a second one immediately
It’s been a couple of months now, and . . .
. . . I’m really enjoying my shikifuton! I’ve completely adjusted to this new style of sleeping (it took a few nights), but now I don’t think I could go back to sleeping on a traditional mattress.
Beautifully Crafted
I am in love with my new shikibuton- I’m 6 feet tall and 165 pounds, the twin XL is the perfect size. I purchased the 4” thickness shikibuton with a Tatami matt to go underneath and my body very much appreciates the firm support, I’ve never had a more restful sleep on a traditional spring mattress or memory foam. I do wish they made a 5” or even 6” thickness for larger people like me. I think in the near future I will purchase the same futon and then stack them on top of each other for an extra plush feel. The removable cover has such a silky feel too it, and the smell of the cotton and tatami along with the lavender infused buckwheat pillows is so indulgent and relaxing. My bones are pleased, and I am so thankful for this company- their products have changed my life for the better.
Wonderful
I'm using this bed in a Japanese themed room which I use for Zen meditation practice as well as on-line and solo retreats. I sleep on it a full night approximately once per week and will take naps here occasionally during the week. Purchased a 4 inch thick, twin XL Shikifuton with a solid white removable cover. I'm 6', 220lbs and something of a restless sleeper. I'm glad I selected the XL. This mattress is a perfect fit for me and my feline friend. This and the wonderful Kakefuton makes for a luxurious traditional Japanese bed. One thing of note. The J-Life website suggests the double size Kakefuton, however, I stuck with the single size and I was glad I did. The single has the lenth and quite a bit of overhang width wise. I worried that the double would have been too big. I purchased a pair of standard pillows and a matching bed roll from a big box store to complete the set. The shikifuton and kakefuton with covers was pretty expensive, however I'm very happy with the quality and comfort of the products as well as the sleeping experience. J-life was great. Would gladly recommend.
