Bonsai Tree History
Bonsai Tree History
The origins of bonsai tree art can be traced back nearly 1,500 years to the ancient Chinese practice of penjing: the art of creating miniature landscapes. Japanese Zen Buddhist monks adopted penjing as a form of meditation practice, gradually developing it into the art of bonsai. Over the centuries, bonsai art came to be a symbol of status in Japanese society, then eventually something to be enjoyed by all.
A bonsai tree gift is believed to bring luck and good fortune to the recipient. Traditionally, it is an expression of the deep bond between giver and receiver because of the time and effort that goes into growing each of these miniature trees.
