Quan Yin is the goddess of compassion and mercy in Buddhism.
She goes by many names depending on the country: Kuan Yin, Kwan Yin, Guan Yin, and more. Her relaxed posture is known as "royal ease"- an artistic choice reserved only for depictions of those with noble standing. Quan Yin sits atop a pedestal of lotus flowers to symbolize her purity, upon which her long gown flows effortlessly down. While she appears content and at rest, she is still attentive to those who may be in need of her help.
She should be placed facing the entryway to your space of meditation, whether it be a Zen garden walkway, or a meditation room doorway. Place her here to invite and maintain positive energies to your space.
