Like Sleeping in Japan!

Made to painstaking traditional Japanese specifications by an American manufacturer, the J-Life Shikifuton offers the ultimate comfort of a true shikibuton. This comes with a beautiful removable cover in 100% cotton imported from Japan fabric as pictured.

THE J-LIFE SHIKIFUTON IS AN AUTHENTIC JAPANESE FUTON

Years ago, we decided to offer Americans a true Japanese style mattress - one constructed of quality materials, without foam or innersprings, - pure and simple. So, we deconstructed Japanese shikibutons, talked to shikibuton master craftsmen in Japan and developed the design of the J-Life Shikifuton.

True to Japanese custom, our futon is made from pure cotton. The J-Life Shikifuton has no wool, foam or innersprings. The shikifuton mattress uses Boron as a fire retardant.

The custom zippered removable cover fits over the 100% unbleached cotton duck mattress cover. The custom removable cover is made of high quality 100% cotton fabric imported directly from Japan and features traditional patterns.

The J-Life Shikifuton is available in two thicknesses, a four inch and a more traditional 3 inch. (In Japan, new shikibuton are about 3 inches thick. Our more popular 4 inch futon is made to accommodate the larger frames of American sleepers.)

Comfort level is firm. Click here for shikifuton care instructions.

Please allow 5 to 7 days for production before shipping (excluding weekends and holidays).

The J-Life Shikifuton is also available without a custom removable cover.

FUTON SIZES

J-Life Shikifutons are sized to fit American bed frames. Please note that Japanese style shikifutons are not meant for American futon frames. They require a flat solid surface such as a platform bed or tatami or floor.

Pair your shikifuton with a tatami mat to ensure proper air circulation and to provide added comfort. Our tatami mats are the perfect base for a Japanese mattress.

*King size futons are made by placing two Twin XL futons side by side.

Feels quality but is just okay

The removable cover feels quite nice and sturdy. Unfortunately the futon became uneven after 3 days of use. It's become lumpy in some places and thin in others. It's still comfortable to sleep in but it's definitely noticeable both in feel and visually.

So So Comfy and High Quality!

I love my Shiki Futon for many reasons, but especially that I can tell how carefully and well made it is. I am using my futon as a roll up mattress for my car into camper conversion, and it has not disappointed! Very comfortable, easy to move, and the cover is easy to clean! My only complaint is that it took a long time for my futon to arrive, despite being told it would arrive much quicker on multiple occassions. Perhaps this was due to it being shipped over a holiday weekend, but it took significantly over two weeks to get to me- meaning I had to change all my plans and did not get to enjoy this futon for as many nights as planned on its maiden voyage!

quality product

this is a well made item made from natural materials. It's comfortable and can be used with many types of bed frames - or not frame at all. it's cleanable and easily maintained. This is the best alternative to the traditional mattress.

I love my Shikifuton

One of the main things that drew me into buying a shikifuton, was just how low of a profile it has, especially while I’m in a place that doesn’t have much room to spare. I can’t wait until I get a place with more space and can add some tatami mats
